Vanessa Hafenbrädl schafft immersive Installationen aus Video-Mapping, Glas, Musik und Storytelling. Ihrer Werke verbinden lokale Bezüge mit zeitgenössischen Diskursen und vermitteln gesellschaftspolitische Themen auf emotional intensive und subtile Weise. 

Ihr Werk wurde mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet, sie erhielt unter anderem den Tassilo-Preis der Süddeutschen Zeitung, für Ihre poetische Bilderzählungen. Jüngst ist Hafenbrädl Teil des Werks "Collected Light Volume Two" von  Women in Lighting das international Frauen in der Lichtkunst präsentiert. 

Ihre immersiven Installationen konzentrieren sich auf feministische Archive und Recherchen, um synästhetische Installationen zu entwickeln, die auf bestimmte Orte zugeschnitten sind. Sie arbeitet eng mit der Künstlerin und Musikerin Anna McCarthy zusammen, um Geschichten zu entwickeln, die den Betrachter zum Nachdenken und zur Interaktion mit gesellschaftlichen Themen anregen und dazu einladen, sich auf spielerische Weise mit seiner eigenen Geschichte und der anderer auseinanderzusetzen.

Auf ihre Familiengeschichte stieß sie 2019 bei einem Besuch im Glasmuseum Frauenau im Bayerischen Wald. Hafenbrädls waren einst eine Dynastie von Glasbläsern, die handgefertigte Spiegel von außergewöhnlicher Höhe und Breite herstellten.

Vanessa Hafenbrädl studiert von 2011 bis 2013 digitalen Film und Animation an der SAE in Hamburg. Seit 2004 engagiert sie sich politisch intensiv für den Erhalt und die Schaffung von Freiräumen in Freiburg, Hamburg und zuletzt in Dießen/Ammersee.

Hafenbrädl questions female archetypes and change common role models. 

Her work breaks away from categories, origins, genders and species. Aesthetics transport controversies.

Her work push the viewer into the subconscious, where complexity reigns.            

Vanessa Hafenbrädl creates immersive installations using video mapping, glass, music and storytelling. Her works combine local references with contemporary discourses and convey socio-political themes in an emotionally intense and subtle way. 

Her work has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Tassilo Prize from the Süddeutsche Zeitung for her poetic pictorial narratives. Most recently, Hafenbrädl is part of the work “Collected Light Volume Two” by Women in Lighting, which presents women in lighting art internationally. 

She creates installations that tell untold stories, comprising video mapping, handmade glass, music andstorytelling. Hafenbrädl’s immersive installations focus predominantly on feminist archives and research to develop synaesthetic installations tailored to specific locations. She is interested inenhancing the common decorative nature of public video art with insightful storytelling, incorporating thehistory of a place while also making links to contemporary culture and topical discourse. She works closely with artist and musician Anna McCarthy to develop stories that encourage viewers to thinkand interact with social issues in an all-inclusive way and welcome viewers to explore their own history, aswell as those of others, in a playful manner.   

                        

She came across her family history in 2019 during a visit to the Frauenau Glass Museum in the Bavarian Forest. Hafenbrädls were once a dynasty of glassblowers, producing handmade mirrors of extraordinary height and width.

Vanessa Hafenbrädl studied digital film and animation at the SAE in Hamburg from 2011 to 2013.

Since 2004, she has been intensively politically involved in the preservation and creation of open spaces in Freiburg, Hamburg and recently in Dießen/Ammersee.

Her works are performed worldwide, from New Zealand to Iceland.
